New office rendering almost complete

Im bout there with this one. I had something come up this past week or so, so didnt have much time to do anything new to this. I posted it up for comments on my normal CGArch forum and waiting to get some feedback. Nothing really as of yet. Only nice things like my joints and what not. Im pretty happy with it. Its my first ever complete Vray render. I think I learned what not to do. My comp hated the trees and really should have used Proxies. Also need to figure out which exact elements I should use to get the nice composite. For this I did my normal use the complete render and then layer on top the elements and cut out pieces to manipulate colors, levels, and any other effects. I've done these so many ways and I personally like the control I get doing it this way. Some day Im sure I'll switch it up and go another way like I usually do.

Next, whenever I can get my mind straightened out I am going to redo and old render I did back in around 2006 with Mental Ray. It was one of my first and I see soooo many errors in it. I just figured at the time it was what it was but now I know how to make it right, only this time it'll be Vray! Also will try and add some more elements into this to make it a bit more homely.

Here is my next project. It's the office I work at. Maybe 2 hours of work right here if that. Blocked out the building and the surrounding landscaping I'll probably switch out some trees, especially for the closer ones to the camera. I've got a few thankfully from all the freebies 3D World and various sites give away. I just throw a standard light and area shadow just to give me an idea of what this will look like and to help find my camera angle. I like this angle, so I'm going to roll with this. I'l planning on grabbing some pics tomorrow or some time this week and to get going on this. Shouldn't take too long to make this render.

Simple Room Composite

It took a lot longer to render then I thought it would take. About 12 hours total for all the passes to finish up this 1500x703 render. I brought it all into Photoshop and loaded up all my SPEC and Reflection layers. Added some glare, and a blue Hue to the room. Also made a few little edits in cleaning some parts of the render out as well. Im not 100% happy with this....but it looks mighty good! I feel like some thing is missing from this for some reason. Im going to step away from it and leave as is for now till I can figure out what it might be.

Lighting is set!

OK so Im getting there slowly but surely! I plan on finishing this up this coming weekend unless some thing pops up on me. Not a lot left to do. I got the lighting to where I liked it. I pretty much skipped texturing the lamp and books and really wanted to see what the lighting would look like once I got it set. I like it!

I plan on texturing the lamp, the books, changing the rug out to some thing else that'll look nicer. This one even with the high texture looks terrible. Also would like to add some more models to the other shelf but may just throw more books up there depending on time. I'll have I hope the final update on this in about a week! :)

I been working on this simple room as I'm calling it off and on for the past few weeks. I modeled EVERY thing in the scene except the for plant. Here I modeled a pair of glasses and one of my drinking glasses.
This is the room about 75% textured before I got impatient and wanted to set up the daylight system. That with 3 mr light helpers. This is before the lighting of course
Here's what it looks like with noooo settings but the basic defaults on the lights.

A fresh start!

I have not posted in a year. I found a great new job in Tampa at a place I had been applying to since 2007. Im not in the 3D Department how ever.....it's not all butterflies and rainbows but I'm working hard and as soon as they can they will move me into that department. So I have spent the past year trying to learn a new craft and neglected my postings, updates, and just plain not working on any new 3D that I can put up. So I am going to dedicate this year and perhaps the better part of the beginning parts of the year to finishing the many things I started last year. I think I have around 4 things that I started work on....got to about a 33% completion point then stopped. So I have been doing 3D for a year just....not very...umm....well.....not as dedicated!

So here is a scene I have had in my head for a year but hadn't ever started it. It's a pretty simple lay out. A leather couch as the center piece with a row of massive windows to the left running along the wall. The plant is the only thing I didnt personally create. It came from some sort of 3D World Mag down load if I remember correctly. It's almost there. I'd give it a good 40% mark. I want to add some more props to the scene. A nice lamp on the table to the right. Some books and knick-naks on the shelving over head, add textures, lighting, render....done.

A fresh start!
